Russel Johnson, CPA, PFS

Russ is an owner and the managing partner of Johnson and Associates, CPA's, PC. Specializing in agri-business, he brings nearly thirty-five years experience in public accounting and financial planning to the firm. His primary expertise is in estate, retirement, and income tax planning for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.

Russ is a native of northeast Colorado, where he was raised on a farm and ranch located midway between Sterling, Otis, and Akron. He graduated Magna Cum Laude (ranked #1 scholastically in the College of Business) from Colorado State University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting. Russ began his career in 1973 with Touche, Ross and Company, CPA's in Denver, CO. He became tax partner for Pyle and Associates CPA's in 1976 and tax manager for McGladrey and Pullen, LLP, CPA's in 1986, both in Sterling. In 1999, along with partners, Dennis Schadegg and Mickey Dubs, he opened the firm Johnson and Assoc iates, CPA's PC.

Russ continues to be actively involved in the family farm which now has grown to nearly 8,000 acres. This experience in production agriculture provides him a real-world understanding of the management and financial issues facing produceers and others in agri-buisiness ventures.

Russ is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and teh Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. he was a member of the first class in the United States to achieve certification as a Personal Financial Specialist in 1986. Russ is currently a member of the Wells Fargo Bank Board and the Sterling Regional MedCenter Finance Committee, is vice-chairman of the Colorado State Fair Board, and is a consultant for Premier Farm Credit. He is also active in numerous community and professional organizations and serves on the Board of Elders for the First Presbyterian Church of Sterling, CO.

Dennis Shadegg, CPA

Dennis has experience in a wide range of tax services including but not limited to individual, partnership, corporation, fiduciary, estate, and exempt organization returns. He also has experience with multiple state returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.

Dennis is a Sterling native, graduating from Sterling High School in 1978, earning his Associates Degree from Northeastern Junior College and graduating from the University of Northern Colorado in June of 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting. He became a shareholder in Johnson and Associates, CPAs, PC in September of 1999.

Dennis has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants since his certification in 1984. He is actively involved in his local church where he is currently serving as an elder and treasurer.

 

 

Mickey Dubs, CPA

Mickey works primarily in the field of auditing. He specializes in a number of agricultural activities (feedlots, dairies, farming, feed manufacturing, meat packing, and agricultural-relate lending), as well as construction services. He has extensive experience in business and individual taxation, and business planning.

Mickey is a Colorado native and grew up on a family-owned farm in Delta, CO. He joined the firm of Pyle and Associates in 1986 after receiving his Bachelor of Science (emphasis in accounting) from the University of Northern Colorado. In September of 1999 he became a shareholder in Johnson and Associates, CPAs, PC. He is licensed in Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas.

Mickey is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is a past president of the Northeastern Chapter of the CSCPA. He is on the board of directors and is treasurer for the Logan County Humane Society, serves on the board of directors for the Sterling Baseball Organization, and is an elder at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sterling.
