Russell Johnson, CPA, PFS (1951-2012)

Russ was a founding owner and the initial managing partner of Johnson and Associates, CPA's, PC until losing a courageous battle against cancer in September of 2012.

Russ was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was a member of the first class in the United States to achieve certification as a Personal Financial Specialist in 1986. He was also active in numerous community and professional organizations.

 

Dennis Schadegg, CPA
Dennis has experience in a wide range of tax services including but not limited to individual, partnership, corporation, fiduciary, estate, and exempt organization returns. He also has experience with multiple state returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.

Dennis is a Sterling native, graduating from Sterling High School in 1978, earning his Associates Degree from Northeastern Junior College and graduating from the University of Northern Colorado in June of 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. He became a shareholder in Johnson and Associates, CPAs, PC in September of 1999.

Dennis has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants since his certification in 1984. He is actively involved in his local church, having served as both an elder and treasurer.

 

Michael (Mickey) Dubs, CPA
Mickey is in charge of providing attest services - such as audits, reviews, and compilations - to our clients.  He specializes in agricultural-related activities, as well as construction services, retail sales, and not-for-profit organizations, and has extensive experience in business and individual taxation, and business planning.

Mickey is a Colorado native and grew up on a family-owned farm in Delta, CO. He joined the firm of Pyle and Associates in 1986 after receiving his Bachelor of Science (emphasis in accounting) from the University of Northern Colorado. In September of 1999 he became a shareholder in Johnson and Associates, CPAs, PC. He is licensed in Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska.

Mickey is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is a past President of the Northeastern Chapter of the CSCPA.  He is on the board of directors of the Logan County Humane Society and the Colorado Agricultural Leadership Program.  Mickey is also on the Supervisory Committee of the Sterling Federal Credit Union, the local advisory board of Sterling Regional MedCenter, is a member of the Sterling Lions Club, and is an elder at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sterling.

 

Carol Keil, CPA, PFS

Carol's main practice area is in taxation, including individual (sole proprietor), partnership, corporation and fiduciary returns, with a concentration of farm/ranch and family-owned business clientele.  She feels well-suited to the variety and challenges of public accounting in a small town environment where she can form long-term client relationships and develop an in-depth understanding of each client's particular business and financial situation.  

Carol is a Colorado native and was raised on a family farm on the eastern plains near Burlington, Colorado.  She moved to northeast Colorado in 1977 and graduated from Northeastern Junior College.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Regis University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (emphasis in Management) and a minor in accounting.  She took the Certified Public Accounting professional exam in November 1995 and was among the top three highest-scoring applicants in the state of Colorado for the November 1995 exam.  Carol worked at a public accounting firm in western Nebraska from 1996 to 2005.  She started at Johnson and Associates, CPA, PC as a manager in December 2005.  She joined Russ Johnson, Dennis Schadegg, and Mickey Dubs as a shareholder on January 1, 2009.  Combined with her prior work as an accountant for a diversified agri-business from 1980 to 1996, she has accrued 30-years of experience in the accounting industry.

Carol is a licensed CPA in both Colorado and Nebraska and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Colorado Society of CPAs and the Nebraska Society of CPAs.  In 2007, Carol achieved the specialty accreditation of Person Financial Specialist (PFS) awarded by the American Society of CPAs to distinguish CPAs with documented expertise in personal financial planning.  Carol is a director on the Sterling Urban Renewal Authority Board, serves on the Northeastern Junior College Advisory Council, NJC Foundation Board, and NJC Alumni Board.
